For Writers
Where stories are discovered and given purpose.
We believe stories help people make sense of their lives — not by telling them what to think, but by helping them recognize something they've felt.
What we're looking for
We're interested in stories that feel real, grounded, and emotionally resonant. Not stories that explain — but stories that reveal.
The kind that stay with someone, because they recognize something in it.
Stories that work well on ITT tend to:
- Begin with a familiar, everyday moment
- Introduce a subtle tension or shift
- Reveal something meaningful — without forcing it
- Leave space for the reader to find their own meaning
They don't need to be dramatic. They don't need to resolve perfectly. They just need to feel true.
How ITT stories are experienced
Stories on ITT are not just read. They're experienced — often followed by reflection or conversation.
That means your story becomes:
- A starting point for someone to reflect
- A way for people to connect
- A moment that opens something up
We're not looking for stories that teach — we're looking for stories that resonate.
We're drawn to writing that is:
- ✓Clear and grounded
- ✓Emotionally present, but not heavy-handed
- ✓Observant of small, meaningful moments
- ✓Open-ended, rather than overly resolved
We tend to avoid:
- ×Overly instructional or moralizing narratives
- ×Highly abstract or hard-to-follow writing
- ×Stories that rely on shock or extremes
Submission guidelines
- Length: ~1,000–3,000 words (flexible depending on the story)
- Format: Short fiction or narrative-driven personal story
- Focus: Everyday moments, relationships, transitions, decisions
You don't need to match a specific theme — but your story should center around a moment that opens something up.
Some stories stay with us. Others help us see something differently. We're always looking for the ones that do both.
